COASTLINE: BLACK ICE is an alternate, expansive timeline narrative that begins with the developments of World War II in 1936 and continues until January 1, 2100. The close of the most devastating war in history on February 2, 1949, with an Axis victory, ushered in an oligarchic peace where a few ruled the masses to suit their whims. The twisted concepts of justice and ethics strangled the world, and even after the Third World War dismantled that horrific oligarchy, these principles were not restored. Nationalism, sliced and twisted by countless foreign influences, morphed into a bizarre fervor where people, in the name of protecting their own, butchered those with shared heritage. This fanatical devotion went so far as to turn on others who proclaimed the same solidarity, with each shot and slur reflecting a growing chasm. Defined by nothing but a desperate will to survive, humanity fights merely for a semblance of better circumstances. In a world veiled in the black smoke of endless war machines and the factories that produce them, a new millennium dawned. The disordered 21st century emerged amid the ruins of the battlefield, anticipated as the final chapter to correct and rebuild all that had been tainted by past transgressions. Three Mediterranean nations, paying for sins with even greater ones, have ruthlessly abandoned nuclear weapons and radioactive waste, further contaminating the already diminished Mediterranean from the Atlantropa Project, burying its potential permanently. Meanwhile, the Allied missiles that ravaged the Lebensraum during the Third World War destroyed more than just German homes—a realization painfully underscored by the nuclear winter that soon followed. Irreparable harm has seeped deeply into human civilization, leaving perpetual war and strange phenomena as the burdens humanity must carry to its final breath. The Coastline: Black Ice series delves into the most extreme, unforgiving, and cold histories, chronicling the lives of passive individuals or groups swept along by the tides of the era. The Coastline: Black Ice Team ultimately aims to establish a media-mix IP, developing across webcomics, visual novels, animation, and scripted novels. |
